Chopard is quietly among the most daring and innovative of all the large watchmaking houses operating today.

The brand’s horological prowess is beyond question — from complicated striking watches and tourbillons to genre-pushing luxury sport watches, the Swiss watchmaker and jeweler is certainly not one to rest on its laurels.

One of the brand’s signature collections, however, eschews complicated watchmaking in favor of playful design, lending it a signature quality that’s immediately recognizable more nearly 50 years after the line’s launch in 1976. That’s right — we’re speaking of Happy Diamonds, the collection that pairs diamonds in free-floating settings and turns them loose within a wristwatch dial. Innovative and spirited, it’s a collection that’s been a favorite of stylish women since its debut.

The particular Happy Diamond is from circa the 1970s. Housed in a 32mm 18K white gold case with a mineral crystal, a sapphire cabochon crown, and a polished 18K white gold bezel, it features a gloss black dial with floating diamonds in white gold settings, , a matching white gold 'dauphine' handset, and a reliable manually-wound movement within. It comes paired to an integrated white gold mesh bracelet with a signed locking clasp.

Fun-loving and exuberant, the Happy Diamond is the sort of watch that invites a second look, and begs to be worn every day. But don’t take our word for it.
